The Hornless Horse

The Monday Afternoon Club, a group of wealthy city women, decided their outing would be at a dairy farm. Most had never seen such a thing.

The day came, and they watched as the city squalor turned into lovely countryside. After they arrived, the farmer invited them to ask questions.

Myrtle saw something she thought was remarkable. She hailed the farmer.

"Sir, why doesn't this cow have any horns?"

The farmer replied, "Well, ma'am, cattle can do a lot of damage with horns. We sometimes trim them with a hacksaw. Other times we can fix the young ones by puttin' acid where their horns would grow. Still, some breeds never grow horns. But the reason this cow don't have horns, ma'am, is 'cause it's a horse."
